My Man Crush for today Is La’wino
La’wino whose real names are Muzaya Miller Shandavu comes from Namwala District in the Southern part of Zambia.
He started his commecial music career in 2017 due to his involvement with his clothing brand The His And Hers Couple T-shirts, but he mentioned that he has been sing his whole life because he feels music is his way of life, La’wino says music helps him express him self in a way He can not do without it.
The male Rapper who is signed under Black Billionaire released his first song which is titled “This Lurv” with features from Young rappers like YT,Rhymes,and Kalu..
Following the huge success of this love,La’wino dropped his second single titled “Loke Loke” which saw him work with Zambia’s chart Topper Chef 187 and Nigerian based Producer Ex-O who has worked with the likes Of Yemi Alade,Ice Prince,Asa,Olamide just to mention a few..The Video for this track which is set to be released in March 2019 will be short in 5 different African countries namely Angola,Namibia,Kenya,Zambia and Nigeria..
La’wino’s album “Life As We Know I” is set to be released in 2020 where he looks forward to working with more international artist like Wizkid(Nigeria),Sarkodie(Ghana),Cef Tany(Angola),Sault Sol(Kenya) and locally apart from Chef he wants to work with Mic Burner,Salma Sky and James Sakala(Sakala brothers)..
Zambiantunes asked him why he chose to work with Ex-O an International Producer who will work on 70% of the songs,This is what he had to say “Ex-O understand my version and really gets me when it comes to my kind of sound” But he says the major reason is to take Zambian music out there and the only way he thinks that can be made possible is to work with international artists and producers because what makes a song to go international is more in how it sounds.
Coming to what was referred as beef between La’wino and Slap Dee by the public,The rapper had this to say,”The whole industry needs a face lift,its not about Slap Dee alone..What i said still stand and forever will,The industry has been stagnant for years and some thing had too be done,thats exactly what I schooled Mwila Musonda about and eventually the picture will be clear enough for evryone to see”.
Zambiantunes asked him if he did it for fame,This was his response..
“I Know how the system works and i guess at times you give people what they expect,He gigles.. So if thats the case then I just say it worked out because every blog,blogger bloged about it,trended on a few radio stations and TV,s..I guess we managed to tap into something we did not have before,now I have someone always watching my every move carefully.Its like I have been here before and am just leaving my second life as La’wino..I have seen how how all this ends,trust me everybody is being played”
In conclusion,He gave us the meaning of his name “La’wino” He said La’wino is an abbreviation/phrase “Life As We Know It”which is the title of his to be released album.La’wino further said “Life is Precious and its the only thing that man has no control over.The common thing between the rich and the poor is lif,Life chose us and we did not chose it but you can only chose how you are going to live it”.
